Swiss mountain cable cars use digital solutions from Pricenow

Swiss mountain cable cars successfully use Pricenow's integrated solution with a fully automated pricing software, a modern data analysis tool and the pricing-optimized webshop: The Berner Oberländer reports about some of our reference projects as well as our newly developed tools to support mountain cable cars and their guests in the coming winter season in the best possible way in dealing with COVID19 through digital capacity management.

Pricenow's customers include well-known mountain railway companies in the regions around Verbier and St. Moritz. In the Upper Engadine, dynamic pricing has been used for two years: last season, 70 percent of guests booked their multi-day tickets in advance via the booking platform, while the figure for day tickets was 15 percent.

At the Niesen, the board of directors laid the foundation for an offensive in digitalization in 2018 - Pricenow subsequently developed a comprehensive webshop solution. The Pricenow webshop covers the entire value chain of the Niesenbahn: Guests of the Niesenbahn can book their train ticket as well as mountain experiences, accommodation or restaurant reservations online.

The Corona crisis is also hitting the mountain railroads hard - the offices of the mountain railroads are feverishly searching for solutions for the summer and winter seasons. At the top of the priority list is the question of how to minimize queues at the bottlenecks of the cable car stations. The Niesenbahn has also dealt with this question and Pricenow has developed a capacity management system without further ado, which helps mountain railroads to control capacities. In addition, Pricenow's pricing algorithm makes it possible to keep a complete eye on the expected rush of visitors. Visitors can see all available capacities and offers of the lift and the mountain house on the website at any time and can thus plan their visit to the mountain.

IIn the future, the Niesenbahn wants to incorporate the solutions even more in order to generate more capacity utilization. Pricenow's management also sees enormous potential in the mountain railway industry: digitalization has made a big head start due to the Corona pandemic.
